How It Works
Hawthorn contains oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) and flavonoids that relax vascular smooth muscle by enhancing nitric oxide production and inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). This leads to vasodilation, reduced peripheral resistance, and improved coronary blood flow. It also has mild positive inotropic effects, strengthening heart contractions.
