How It Works
Allicin, garlic's primary bioactive compound, inhibits HMG-CoA reductase (the same enzyme targeted by statins) and fatty acid synthase, reducing hepatic cholesterol production. It also stimulates nitric oxide synthase in blood vessel endothelium, promoting vasodilation and healthy blood pressure. Additional anti-platelet effects support healthy blood viscosity.
